Manning Marable, Dies at 60, Before His Time and Before His New Book

When Manning Marable passed away just days before his wonderful Malcolm X biography hit shelves, it saddened me that he would not be able to continue his discussion of Malcolm’s life and significance. In this RiAH post, I talk about how Marable discussed Malcolm in an essay a few years before the publication of the biography: http://usreligion.blogspot.com/2011/04/manning-marable-dies-at-60-before-his.html.

During the early summer of 2011, I read Marable’s Malcolm X biography while sitting in Florida’s beaches. The result was a new understanding of Malcolm’s life, a book with sunscreen smears, and these reflections: http://usreligion.blogspot.com/2011/05/malcolm-x-minister-trickster-black.html.
